Clars Auctions has partnered with KQED Public Television, to give KQED supporters a way to make a charitable contribution using antiques, fine art, jewelry, Asian works of art and other collectible property instead of cash.

Donate Valuables

Through this partnership, donors can turn items they no longer need into support for KQED’s public media mission. Clars handles the appraisal, consignment and sale of the item and the net proceeds are directed to KQED as a charitable gift.

  1. Schedule an Appointment: Fill out the interest form on KQED’s website to connect with a Clars Auctions specialist, who will schedule a time to evaluate your item or items.
  2. Receive an Auction Estimate: A Clars specialist will examine the property and provide an estimated value, along with an explanation of the potential auction process and the appropriate sale category.
  3. Decide Whether to Consign: If you agree with the valuation and wish to proceed, your item can be consigned to Clars Auctions. The minimum estimated value for participation in this program is $400 per item.
  4. Clars Handles the Auction: Clars determines the most appropriate auction for your property and manages the sale through its standard auction process.
  5. Proceeds Benefit KQED Once the item sells, the net sale proceeds (after Clars Auctions’ 10% fee) are directed to KQED as a charitable cash gift.
  6. Receive Charitable Acknowledgment: KQED provides a charitable gift acknowledgment recognizing your contribution.

Note: Your property remains yours throughout the process until it sells at auction. You make the final decision to consign only after receiving Clars’ valuation and reviewing the proposed auction process.

Minimum estimated value: $400 per item. Program terms, charitable acknowledgment, and tax treatment are subject to applicable laws and regulations. Donors should consult their own tax advisor regarding the tax consequences of a charitable contribution.
