Dr. Hanson served with distinction at UCSF Department of Psychiatry for 24 years and was previously a faculty member at Harvard for 10 years. His collection, amassed over a period of 20 years, underscores Dr. Hanson’s love of Chinese monochrome ceramics. Highlighting the collection is a Longquan celadon glazed dish incised with two lotus sprigs, originally purchased in 1999 from J.J. Lally & Co, New York. This dish is set to be offered with a pre-auction estimate of $25,000-45,000. In addition, a selection of Cizhou ceramic pillows and a Cizhou type black glazed globular bowl painted with a stylized floral spray will be up for bid. Ding and qingbai ware, as well as a unique selection of hare’s fur, tortoise shell and russet splashed dark glaze bowls will also be offered June 28th in conjunction with fine items from other important estates and institutions throughout the United States.
